McGill University - Focus on Teaching

Liability and Research

June 20, 10:00am-12:00pm

Wonder what will happen if a researcher breaches confidentiality, or any other duties or responsibilities? This interactive workshop will introduce the basic elements of civil liability through a review of existing legislation and case law from the province of Québec.

What the research says…

Did you miss Ken Bain’s visit to McGill? Or, did you attend, and now you want to review some of the ideas he shared? Either way, contact TLS’ Maria Orjuela-Laverde maria.orjuela-laverde@mcgill.ca to have access to the videorecording! The bestselling author of What the Best College Teachers Do shared his research on mental models and the importance of asking intriguing, fascinating and beautiful questions to help guide students’ learning. He also described criteria for developing a natural critical learning environment that fosters students’ learning and engagement.

Policy on Safe Disclosure

This Policy provides for an impartial channel for the making of such good-faith reports, protection of those who make such reports from reprisals, and for the investigation and disposition of reports using, where possible, existing mechanisms.

We are pleased to announce that Turning Point Cloud will be freely available to all students and instructors as of the Fall 2016 semester. Turning Point Cloud is a web-based student response system that allows students to respond from a personal device (smartphone, tablet, laptop) rather than a physical handheld clicker. Please note that physical clickers will no longer be supported.
