The Faculty of Dentistry is saddened to inform you that Dr. Seymour Miller, one of our most dedicated clinical instructors in the Division of Orthodontics, passed away on Sunday November 3rd. Dr. Miller was involved with our Faculty for many years. His dedication as well as the love of his profession was second to none. During his illness he taught us lessons of courage and humility that will never be forgotten. He was truly an amazing man and will remain an inspiration to our Faculty for many years.
Our thoughts are with Seymour’s family and friends.

Did you know?
"In Canada before the 1860s there was no legislation to prevent anyone from setting himself up as a dentist, and many people with little or no knowledge and limited skills passed themselves off as dentists. In 1858, the year in which the first Canadian currency was issued, there were eight dentists listed in the Province of Quebec. Five of them were in Montreal; the other three were in Quebec City. The dentists had all been trained by apprenticeship, and, doubtless, they were quite skilled. Most had served a four-year indentureship, but others had not. There was no law to determine the length of training."
