West Wing Construction

 

Construction in the West Wing starts in June and is anticipated to last until the end of the year. Once complete, the West Wing will offer the following public amenities and improvements:

  • A new lounge adjacent to natural light with seating comfortable for older adults
  • More casual seating among the stacks, close to collections and around the perimeter
  • Shelving with varied heights to improve sightlines, and angled bottom shelves to improve access to materials
  • Reorganized collections to improve navigation
  • Fully accessible washrooms and Assistive Services office

The Lady in the Van

An elderly woman who lives in a van temporarily parks in writer Alan Bennett’s driveway... and stays there for the next 15 years.

David Carter Wins Super Trustee Award

 

 

Congratulations to Library Board member David Carter for winning a Super Trustee Award from the BC Library Trustees Association. David has been a member of our board since 2012 and we cannot thank him enough for his tireless energy and deep dedication to our library. 

 

Harry Greenwood in the House (of Commons)

 

As if winning Citizen of the Year weren't enough, Harry Greenwood's community commitment was recently celebrated in the House of Commons by West Van MP Pam Goldsmith-Jones. Watch the video

 

Hold Fees Removed

 

All hold fees have been removed in preparation for construction on the West Wing. Please ask at any Information Desk if you have questions. 

 

Memorial Window

 

View a new exhibit on Harmony, the stained glass window that hangs in our Main Hall. The exhibit reveals the window's history through images and documents preserved in our digital collection.

Shred It and Forget It – Saturday, May 28, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Back by popular demand, for a minumum $5 donation, the Friends invite 

you to toss all your unwanted personal paper into the secure shredder that will be stationed in the Library’s west parking lot. All proceeds will benefit the Library.
