The holidays are upon us, a time of giving, of family, friends, wonderful food and warm nights by the fire. It's also a time when your library comes alive with festive concerts, playful puppet shows, holiday movies and so much more of what makes this season great. Persian Book Club
Thursday, December 18, 2 p.m., Elizabeth Musto Room

Read and discuss classical and contemporary Persian literary prose. Participants must be fluent in Persian. Led by Feloor Talebi.

Friday Night Concert – Vancouver Bach Choir
Friday, December 12, 7:30 p.m., Main Hall

The VBC returns, along with two guest soloists, to perform excerpts from Handel’s Messiah and a selection of traditional carols.
 

Opera with Nicolas Krusek
Wednesday, December 3, 12:30 p.m., Welsh Hall

Don't miss this series on beloved operas by Czech composers. Highlights will include The Bartered Bride by Bedrich Smetana and The Devil and Kate and Rusalka by Antonin Dvorak.

Learn how to sign up for an account and use Skype in time for the holidays. Call the Community Computing Centre to sign up for a 50 minute session. Sessions start at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Pre-requisite: basic computer skills.

Families with children aged six and under are invited to come and celebrate learning in a fun, relaxed environment led by a qualified Early Childhood Educator.
 

Christmas Puppet Show | 3Y+

A half-hour puppet show to get you into the holiday spirit. Registration is required. Please register each child separately.

Movie Matinee – Home Alone

Eight-year-old Kevin gets left behind when his family goes on a Christmas vacation. He ends up protecting the house with hijinks from two incompetent burglars trying to break in. Drop-in but space is limited.

The Library will be closed for the holidays from Wednesday, December 24 – Friday, December 26; open Saturday, December 27 – Friday, December 31 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; closed for New Years Day, Thursday, January 1, 2015.
