Meetings, Conventions & Sports

The Canada Games Council has just released their final report on the Greater Sudbury bid proposal for the 2021 Canada Summer Games. Over the coming weeks the Bid Committee will review the report and a formal debrief with the Canada Games Council is being planned.

Staff attended a networking event at Beanfield Centre in Toronto with approximately 150 meeting industry professionals from across Ontario.  Many face to face contacts were made at this 6th annual event as we continue to build and strengthen Greater Sudbury’s relationships with meeting industry professionals.

Bid Proposal

In a collaborative partnership with the Radisson Hotel Sudbury, as well as numerous other Sudbury Tourism partners, a bid was submitted for the 2018 Canadian Society of Professional Event Planners Annual Conference. CanSPEP are the National industry leaders in the meetings, conventions and tradeshow business contributing an average of over $60 million in revenue annually in the events industry. Hosting this influential group will not only demonstrate our hosting capabilities, but it will also create many future opportunities.
