Greater Sudbury's 2021 Canada Summer Games Bid Opportunity

A website has been launched to engage Greater Sudbury residents and determine levels of public support for the community's bid for the 2021 Canada Summer Games. The site is designed for people to sign up and indicate their interest in showing their support, and in finding out more in volunteering, purchasing tickets and sponsorship opportunities.

We would encourage those who are interested to share the link with their networks in order to help us gain a better understanding of public support. and

The Bid Committee has held numerous meetings and working sessions putting the various, comprehensive Phase 2 bid components together for the January 10th Council meeting.  Pending Council’s support and commitment, the completed Phase 2 package will be due January 31, 2017, and the Bid Evaluation Committee for the Canada Games Council will do a site visit on February 27, 2017.  The winner of the 2021 Canada Summer Games will be announced March/April.

Tourism Staff joined the Professional Convention Management Association and attended their Canadian Innovation Conference in St. John’s, Newfoundland November 20th to 22nd.  Over 275 delegates attended this premier, innovative, education focused conference and staff had some quality face time with meeting and event professionals in the marketplace of meetings, conventions, seminars, exhibits and tradeshow opportunities.  Numerous contacts and leads for opportunities were gathered with the most promising being formed over a meeting with the COO and Convention Director for the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada.
